Adult Hamburger Helper
Ok, I’d be lying if I said I never ate Hamburger Helper for an entire week when I was in college. I was so eager to start my journey as a college student, that I never really thought about how inexperienced I was in the kitchen. My Mom cooked all our meals, so I never learned past the basics. So when I was a little freshman living in a dorm room with no kitchen, I relied on quick meals that were cheap, fast, and easy! Consider this my healthier take on this family favorite! The elbow pasta is from one of my newly discovered brands, Banza, and it’s made from chickpeas, so eat all the pasta you want absolutely guilt-free! Oh and did I mention that it’s gluten free? Yum!
- 1 lb ground hot Italian sausage
- ½ box Banza elbow pasta
- 8 cups salted water
- ½ cup shredded fresh Parmesan
- 6 oz diced tomatoes
- Bring large skillet to medium heat.
- Add ground sausage and break apart using wooden spoon.
- Meanwhile, bring large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook Banza according to package, drain and set aside.
- Once sausage is fully cooked through, drain excess oil, then add Banza and tomatoes.
- Stir until warm, garnish with fresh Parmesan and serve.
