Healthy Nutella Brownies

Healthy Nutella Brownies? This must be an oxymoron? Great news, no this isn’t a trick! Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, so it’s time to start thinking of ways to impress your sweetie! I normally bake several treats to share with family, friends, and coworkers, and I wanted to try something different this year. I usually stick to traditional recipes that call for several sticks of butter, cups of sugar, etc. and although they are decadent, it’s easy to get carried away with the sugar. So this year, I’m going to try these flourless, healthier Nutella brownies. After tasting them myself (for research purposes), I can positively say that adults and kids alike will love these sweets, and you won’t have to tell them that they’re “healthy,” because they won’t notice the difference!

Now for the hard part, you must wait half an hour before slicing, (you don’t want to over cook these brownies) the center will harden as it cools. The Nutella helps give the brownies a gooey texture that you would expect from regular brownies. They will not have a striking hazelnut flavor just FYI, but I promise the flavor is ooey gooey goodness! Same thing goes for the powdered peanut butter! You will not taste it at all, but for this recipe it serves as a substitute for flour, oats, or almond meal. It absorbs well with the rest of the ingredients without taking over the chocolate flavor.

Did you know that powdered peanut butter has 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter? They basically take the oils out of regular peanut butter and the result is a super versatile all-natural version.

Why wait until Valentine’s Day? Make them all throughout the month of February and share the love of healthy brownie alternatives with all your loved ones! Decorate with strawberries, or raspberries for a pop of red! What other sweet treats do you plan on making next month, let me know in the comments below?! Always looking for inspiration!
