Homemade PSL
Ok so the weather in Houston is still a little whacky, and if you feel inclined to help please visit my blog post here. We’re just now seeing some sunshine and the weather outside has dropped to the mid 70s making it feel like fall is upon us. (Yes 70 degrees Fahrenheit constitutes fall weather in Texas!) <3
Starbucks added their famous #PSL back to their menu a couple weeks ago, so in honor of all things pumpkin spice, I’m sharing my way of making it at home. Don’t get me wrong a girl’s gotta treat herself every once in a while, but I’m obsessed! Call me basic idc, I love the psl hot or iced, but the real deal has a ton of sugar, dairy, and it’s expensive. Enjoy this lightened version and save some dinero! Also, Happy #NATIONALCOFFEEDAY, but that’s basically everyday for me!
Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte
Life is too short for bad coffee, so splurge on a good cold brew, my favorite is Chameleon Cold Brew, which is locally made in Austin, TX!! It’s about $10 for 32 oz and although it seems pricey, you’ll get a lot more PSLs for your money. Definitely worth it! Just add 4 oz over ice since it’s concentrated!
Starbucks pumps their traditional PSL with a lot of sugar, I like this option because it’s strong and has 0 calories and 0 sugar! 1 pump will do!
I swear this is the pumpkin spice syrup and NOT tequila!
Last but not least, I think this is the why this drink is so damn addicting, it’s all in the sweetened condensed milk! Go with the regular one, or with a non dairy option (there is no difference in taste), the choice is yours! Just add a tsp, a little goes a long way because it’s almost entirely sugar!
Add milk of your choice and sprinkle cinnamon on top! I use the New Barn Barista almond milk for both the iced and hot version!
Hot Pumpkin Spice Latte
I found this pumpkin pie ground coffee at Home Goods! They are the best when it comes to finding seasonal food items! Again, splurge on good coffee, this bag was just $5.
Once you brew a pot, sweeten it with the sweetened condensed milk to taste. Froth your milk using a milk steamer, my espresso machine has one attached and I use it religiously! I normally do a half coffee, half steamed milk ratio, but the preference is yours. If the pumpkin flavor isn’t strong enough for you, add 1 pump of syrup and enjoy! Don’t forget to sprinkle a dash of cinnamon on top!
New Barn has the best non dairy milk that’s made specifically for coffee! Look at how frothy it gets! I found this at Whole Foods! Enjoy your PSL all season long!
