My New Year’s Resolution
2017 was a busy year filled with many highs, I got engaged to the love of my life, have made deeper connections with friends and family, and have tried getting out of my comfort zone both personally and professionally. I plan on welcoming 2018 with total determination and instead of setting a resolution I have a short list of intentions to share with you!
1. Say yes! I was able to connect with many strong minded Latina bloggers simply by saying yes to events hosted by the Houston Latina Bloggers. I plan on attending many more events in 2018 and helping out where I can. I was also able to connect with many boss babes along the way! Especially Alicia, owner of Thinking Boutique who is someone I hope to continue to learn from!
2. Stay active. I put my Classpass on hold, but like the flexibility it provides especially when traveling. I also have a membership at Pure Barre -Voss as well as Defy Pilates. I’ve missed my barre babes and can’t wait to get back at it. #sweatingforthewedding
3. Be in the moment. I love my phone as much as the next millennial, but I’m going to try to put my phone down as soon as we have the perfect selfie to share! I can’t help it!!
4. Give back. Hurricane Harvey taught us how strong a community can be when we have no choice but to overcome. Houston Strong is the new HTown anthem, and I plan on continuing to volunteer and donating to organizations that are close to my heart. Houston Food Bank, Houston Pets Alive, Candlelighters, and Children with Hair Loss.
5. Travel. This is a shared passion for my fiancé and I, so I can’t wait to see what adventures we go on in 2018. *Spoiler Alert* We’re going to New York for my birthday weekend in January!
6. Save money. I have a wedding to plan, so this pretty much goes without saying! Accepting all wedding planning / organizing tips now!
7. Learn. I’m at that stage where I crave learning a new skill. I’m not sure what that skill is just yet, but I’m leaning towards the crafty side, maybe a new painting?
8. Read a book. I was such a bookworm growing up, and I actually still really enjoy cuddling up with a good book. Please send your recommendations my way!
9. Create 50 new recipes!
10. Be a better advocate. The World can be an ugly place, but the more compassionate we can be towards one another is simply the first step in making it a better place. I will use my voice and the days of, “Calladita te ves mas bonita,” (Translation: You look prettier with a closed mouth) are OVER!
